Many of you will have seen news coverage last week about the first stage report of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry being published.

We felt it was important to engage with this independent review of how government departments across the UK responded to the global Covid-19 pandemic in the period 2020-2022.
Back in January 2023, we were additionally asked to submit comprehensive evidence of the impact of the pandemic on people who have Down’s syndrome as part of Module 3 – ‘The impact of the pandemic on healthcare systems’. The report from that module will be published in due course.
We will continue to work closely with the Government, DHSC and NHS across the UK to ensure that we are better prepared to respond to any future public health emergency and keep the needs of people more clinically vulnerable to a virus like COVID at the top of this agenda.
