Lucia’s family got in touch to tell us about her life and this blog has been written from Lucia’s perspective.
Hello, I’m Lucia and I have just turned two. I love signing Makaton to my brothers and sisters, and I know what I want! My family is Italian, and I am bilingual because I can understand both languages – which is useful when we visit my cousins in Italy.
When I was only three months old, I had a complete AVSD (atrioventricular septal defect) and ASD (atrial septal defect) repair at Great Ormond Street Hospital. I’m now fighting fit and enjoying life every single day.
I have has three siblings, Elisa, Pietro and Eugenia. I love signing to them, reading books, and having family photos.
Happy World Down Syndrome Day from me!
